     Braves Tipped Pass Leads to Card's 8th Title

    Springfield Shawnee driving late in the 4th quarter of DIII state final game for what looked to be another score down 14-21, a tipped pass by Cardinals Ryan Farragher in the end zone on 4th down with 1:11 left crushed the Braves dream season. Shawnee’s final drive was assisted by 2 pass interference calls courtesy of Cardinal Mooney; Shawnee looked to push the championship game into overtime. Later after the game Shawnee head coach Rick Meeks commented, “We were 90 percent sure we were going for two. We were dead tired, beaten up. We had to win it there, but they made a great play”, “Mooney is bigger, stronger, (and) faster than us, we knew that but we gave it all we had”.

    Canton Fawcett Stadium crowd of 7,500 plus witnessed two solid defenses with a scoreless 1st quarter, Mooney’s AP DIII, Defensive Player of the Year, Courtney Love who wreaked havoc (7 ½ tackles) all night keeping the Braves high revving offense in check until the 4th quarter.

    Rams Prove 3rd Time Is Really A CHARM!

    The Trotwood-Madison Rams won the school's first football championship after coming up short in their two previous trips finishing runner up in 1981 and 2010. Congratulations to Maurice Douglas's team that was one of only two squads to finish the season unblemished at 15-0! This is the 3rd State football title for the Greater Western Ohio Conference with Lebanon in 1998 and most recently the Piqua Indians in 2006.

    For a second year in a row in the DII State championship game, the Rams jumped out to a double digit lead even after giving up back to back turnovers on their first two drives. Avon's corner Ralph Smith (#5 Jr., CB) picked off a Michael Simpson pass that covered 65 yards for an early 7-0 Eagle lead, on the next Ram drive Isreal Green's fumble wasn't as costly when the Eagles FG attempt sailed wide.

    Creston Norwayne Outlast Kenton in Thrilling Fashion 

    The best game of championship weekend came in the finest of settings.  The Kenton Wildcats, featuring Ohio ’s Mr. Football (QB-Maty Mauk) squared off against the local team, Norwayne Bobcats.  Both sides brought huge crowds on a day filled with plenty of sunshine at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon .  When it was all said and done all who were there agreed that this was a game that would be talked about for some time.

    Coming out of the gate SWOF had their questions about Norwayne.  Would they be able to keep up with the high motor of Kenton’s offense?  Could they move the ball themselves enough to put points on the board?

Top DE in Country Makes it Final

With the flurry of de-commits' over the last month I am sure the staff at Florida State was happy to hear the news Monday that the best DE in the nation is headed to Tallahassee! Denton Ryan HS blue chip player Mario Edwards re-committed after his visit to LSU over the weekend. Edwards has had official visits to Oklahoma and Texas this season but the visit to Tallahassee 2 weeks ago cemented his decision to follow his Dad's footsteps and suit up in the Garnet and Gold.

Most Buckeye fans had Christmas come a little early with the popular pick of Urban Meyer taking over for Luke Fickell! The few fans that were dead set on another coach to take over the program really need to step back, take a deep breath and understand this pick had to be a coach with a rock star following. Urban Meyer is that star power, even a year removed from his last win over UC in the Sugar Bowl; he is the logical choice to keep Blue Chip players in state.
